Sale savings guide: what does a deal really save?

Do not judge a sale by the headline discount alone. Here is how to work out the real number.

Published October 9, 2026. Last updated October 9, 2026. Sale details last checked October 9, 2026.

The headline discount is not the whole story

A product page can show a big percentage, a coupon, a bank offer and an EMI plan at the same time. Each is a different thing. The only number that matters in the end is what leaves your account, compared with what you would have paid otherwise.

A worked example (hypothetical numbers)

All figures below are made up to show the method. They are not a real product or offer.

StepAmountNote
Listed (reference) price₹10,000The crossed-out price on the page
Sale price₹8,000A 20% discount on the reference price
Coupon−₹500Only if you qualify and it is applied at checkout
Bank discount−₹500Only on an eligible card, and subject to its cap
Final payable (if both apply)₹7,000A 30% saving against ₹10,000

Now the cautions. First, stacking depends entirely on eligibility and terms. Many coupons and card offers cannot be combined, have minimum spends or caps, or apply only to some variants. If only the bank offer applied, the final amount would be ₹7,500. Second, the reference price is the shop's choice. If the same product normally sells for ₹8,200, your real saving against its normal price is ₹1,200, not ₹3,000. Third, cashback and SuperCoins are rewards you receive later, so they should not be subtracted from today's price.

Keep different benefits separate

  • Instant discount: reduces what you pay now.
  • Coupon: a reduction applied under its own conditions.
  • Cashback or reward: credited later, often as a balance or points.
  • EMI: changes how you pay, not what the product costs. "No Cost EMI" does not make it cheaper.
  • Exchange value: depends on your old device and is confirmed later.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Short answers based on what the marketplaces have confirmed and on how price tracking works.

Sometimes, but not always. It depends on the specific offers, the product and your card. Check the final payable amount at checkout.

No. A discount lowers what you pay now; cashback is credited later. Count them separately.

It spreads payment over time without charging separate interest on the offer, but the total you pay is set by the price and the plan terms. Check how it is treated on your order, and use the EMI calculator.

With what the exact product has recently cost, not with the crossed-out price the page shows.
