You check a product, the price looks the same as yesterday, and you move on. What you did not notice is a small "Apply ₹500 coupon" line that appeared that morning. It would have taken ₹500 off at checkout. By the evening it was gone.

Coupons are one of the easiest discounts to miss because they do not show up as a price change. This guide explains what Amazon coupons are, why they matter for the price you actually pay, and how coupon alerts for tracked products work.

Key takeaway: the listed price and the price you pay can differ by a coupon. Watching only the listed price means you can miss a saving that never appears in it.

What Amazon Coupons Are

On many Amazon product pages you will see a coupon you can apply before checkout. It usually takes one of two forms:

  • A fixed amount, such as ₹500 off.
  • A percentage, such as 10% off.

Coupons are separate from the product's listed price. They may be limited by time, by quantity or by terms such as a maximum discount, and they can appear, change or disappear while the listed price stays exactly where it was. Always read the terms shown with a coupon before relying on it.

How a Coupon Changes the Effective Price

The effective price is the listed price minus whatever the coupon takes off. Illustrative numbers:

Listed priceCouponEffective price
₹12,999₹500 off₹12,499
₹3,00010% off₹2,700, subject to the coupon's terms
₹12,999None₹12,999

In the second row the discount of ₹300 is larger than many small price drops people set alerts for. In the first row, a ₹500 coupon equals a ₹500 price drop, except that it never shows up as one.

Why Coupons Are Easy to Forget

  • They are separate from the price. A price tracker that only watches the listed price will not tell you a coupon appeared.
  • They are short-lived. A coupon may be available for a limited time or until it runs out.
  • They are not on every product. You cannot predict which product will carry one, so checking every time is a chore.
  • They change quietly. A ₹300 coupon may become ₹200, or a percentage coupon may change its percentage, and the product page does not announce it.

How Coupon Alerts Work in DealTrackerProBot

Since July 23, 2026, DealTrackerProBot can detect supported Amazon coupons on tracked products. As the bot checks a tracked Amazon listing automatically, it also looks at the coupon, and tells you in Telegram when something noteworthy happens:

  • A new coupon appears. A product that had no coupon now has one.
  • A coupon changes. The value or type of the coupon is different from what the bot last recorded.
  • No repeats. An unchanged coupon does not trigger the same message again.

Coupon messages are written to be clear at a glance, in the form "Apply ₹500 coupon" or "Apply 10% coupon". Both fixed-value and percentage coupons are supported.

Two honest limits. First, detection applies to supported Amazon coupons, when they are detected. It does not promise to catch every coupon on every product. Second, coupon alerts are for Amazon products only. Flipkart tracking covers prices, target prices, price history and stock, but not coupons. Availability may also vary by marketplace and product, and Amazon India has the fullest feature set. See coupon alerts for the feature overview.

What the Scenarios Look Like

A fixed ₹500 coupon appears

You are tracking a pair of headphones at ₹4,999. The price does not move, but a ₹500 coupon appears. You get a coupon alert, apply it at checkout and pay ₹4,499, a saving you would not have noticed from price alone.

A percentage coupon appears

A kitchen appliance at ₹3,500 gains a 10% coupon. The alert says to apply the coupon. The saving depends on the coupon's terms, such as a maximum discount, so check them before you assume the full 10%.

A coupon changes

A coupon for ₹500 later changes to ₹300. You get a change notification, and can decide whether the product is still worth buying at the new effective price.

A coupon you were counting on is gone

Coupons are not permanent. If you planned around one and it is no longer on the page, the effective price has effectively gone up even though the listed price did not. Run /product for that item to see the current coupon and price together before you buy.

Look at the Coupon and the Price Together

The right number to compare is the effective price. A product at ₹4,999 with a ₹500 coupon is cheaper than the same product at ₹4,699 with no coupon. Treat price-drop alerts, target-price alerts and coupon alerts as separate signals, and do the arithmetic yourself before buying. Our guide to knowing when a product is actually cheap explains how to judge the result against the recorded range.

How to Track a Product and Monitor Its Coupons

  1. Copy the link of a supported Amazon product.
  2. Send it to DealTrackerProBot on Telegram after /start.
  3. The bot adds the product to your watchlist and checks it automatically.
  4. Use /list to find the product's number, then /product followed by that number to see the current price, target price and current Amazon coupon in one view.
  5. Optionally set a target price with /target so you are also alerted when the listed price reaches your number.

Tracking a product also records its price, so you build a history to judge a coupon against. See Amazon price history explained.
